You asked, we listened and we delivered. The Jamesburg PTA is excited to have Class Parents for the very first time!
Last year, 46 parents volunteered over 700 hours of their time to pull off our annual in-school and after-school events. But we want to do so much more! Some ideas we have are:
Talent Show
Spelling Bee
Grade celebrations for holidays
Color Run
Read-A-Thon
We are always looking for more ideas. But we need help. To pull these events off, we need more volunteers and better communication. And that is where Class Parents come in!
A Class Parent is a volunteer who acts as a communication liaison between the classroom families, the classroom teacher, and the PTA. Each grade will have as many class parents as they have homerooms. For example, there are three Kindergarten homerooms, therefore Kindergarten will have 3 class parents.
The Class Parent will:
send reminders to the other parents in their assigned class on behalf of the PTA and teacher.
help recruit volunteers for in-school events
coordinate donations for supplies or teacher gifts
attend PTA meetings (whether in person or virtually) to stay up to date on latest news
To become a Class Parent, you must be a member of the Jamesburg PTA, undergo a fingerprinting background check, and attend staff training (approximately 10 hours online and 1 hour in person).
To be considered to become a class parent, please fill out the information form below (under Class Parent Directory) and check off the appropriate box. Priority will be given to parents who have a proven track record with the PTA. If multiple parents meet the criteria, a lottery will be held among those applicants.
Please complete the Google form to be added to the Class Parent Directory so that you can receive communications from your student's Class Parent. https://tinyurl.com/2627ClassParents
For more information on the Class Parent Program, join us for our first PTA meeting of the school year on September 29, at 7pm at JFK. You do not have to be a PTA member to attend the meeting. All are welcome! Doors will open at 6:30pm. Cookies and coffee will be served. While the grown-ups chat, middle school volunteers will teach the younger kids how to make paper flower decorations from recycled materials for us to include in our events. Our theme this year is "Grow With Us'" as we watch the PTA and our students blossom together.
